Ryuhokan Dojo
Chief Instructor: Scot Mertz - Hachidan Hanshi - Ryuhoryu Kaiso

The Ryuhokan Dojo was established in 2005 by Scot Mertz, and is the only authorized dojo for Ryuhoryu Bujutsu in Japan. Mertz sensei has published 8 books, and has had articles published in several magazines including Bugeisha (USA), Karate (Japan), and others. In addition to karate articles he has also been published in several medical journals for psychological and kinesiological analysis. Classes at the Ryuhokan dojo are listed on our schedules page.

Mertz sensei has been a professional karate teacher since 1996. He is available for seminars worldwide and he is also available for academic, professional projects, motivational speaking, dojo marketing, and curriculum development/refining. He is also the founder of Ryuhoryu, so if you do want to study Ryuhoryu directly from the source, you are always welcome to contact Mertz sensei directly if you are interested in training, or come by the Asato Dojo in Naha for classes.
